1. Pharmacognosy
•	Research Areas:
o	Natural Product Drug Discovery: Exploration of plants and other organisms to find compounds with therapeutic potential.
o	Ethnopharmacology: Investigating traditional medicines and indigenous practices for modern drug development.
o	Phytochemistry: Chemical analysis of plant-based compounds to isolate active ingredients.
2. Medicinal Chemistry
•	Research Areas:
o	Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR): Understanding how the molecular structure of a compound influences its biological activity.
o	Drug Design and Development: Designing molecules that target specific biological pathways, often starting with a lead compound identified from natural products (as in pharmacognosy).
o	Optimization of Drug Properties: Improving absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) of drug candidates.
3. Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery
•	Research Areas:
o	Nanocarriers for Drug Delivery: Utilizing nanoparticles to improve the delivery of drugs, particularly those derived from natural products, to targeted areas (e.g., cancerous tissues) with reduced side effects.
o	Controlled Release Systems: Developing nanomaterials that allow for controlled and sustained release of drugs.
o	Diagnostic and Theranostic Nanomaterials: Creating nanoparticles that can diagnose diseases and simultaneously deliver therapy.
