This study aims to explore and analyze Mikhail Bakhtin’s carnivalesque different manifestations in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. The study also seeks to show how the distinction of the novel in the way of presenting the carnival, as well as the carnival impact in the novel in particular. The research shows that the novel and the concept harmonize, as if they were deliberate. To have a better and clear understanding of Golding’s novel, the study applied the carnivalesque themes and its various categories. Accordingly, the study tackles the profound tensions or conflicts between various contradictions like morality and immorality, savagery and civilization, collective and individual thinking. In this study, the researcher has followed the qualitative descriptive research method to analyze William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies according to Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of the carnival.
